Rocket Room Wedding - Chris + Robyn // St. John's Wedding Photography
Chris + Robyn's St. John's wedding was back in July on what had to be the wettest wedding day I have experienced. This summer's weather has overall been spectacular, but on Chris + Robyn's wedding day, Mother Nature had other plans. However, theses two did not let the rain get them down at all! We had a plan in place for poor conditions and if anything it ended up making their day more unique. The weather even subsided later in the afternoon and we managed to jump outside for a few photos.
I asked Chris + Robyn to share their experiences with their vendors and about their wedding day. See what they had to say below.
Congratulations Chris + Robyn!
--------------------------------------------------
The Bride & Groom: (Christopher and Robyn): Christopher and I met in homeroom of our first year at Holy Heart of Mary. We were the typical awkward teenagers and I’m pretty sure it took us 4 months before we actually spoke in person. We would rush home from school and chat for hours on ICQ! We went on a few dates but neither one of us knew they were actually dates so one movie date I decided to make it a date and hold his hand and as cliché as it sounds..the rest is history. We officially started dating on my 16th birthday and haven’t looked back since. And now look at us, we’re officially married!
How long did it take you to plan your wedding? We got engaged on my 28th birthday and started planning right away. Between getting engaged and getting married was a year but I think it only took us 6 months to really make the plans!
Vendors you chose and why:
Dress: The Bridal Salon. The atmosphere and Tilly were just so relaxed which was exactly me! I didn’t want much fuss but Tilly made me feel so special and let me take my time and look through the many dresses to choose for myself! From start to finish all the staff was amazing!
Suit: The Hudson Bay Company (Tiger of Sweden) – Grooms Suit. All the groomsmen rented suits from Moore’s.
Decor: DIY with lots of help from my family as well as Christophers!Set up was also made possible and hassle free by Wedding Angels Decorating (Mary Murphy) and my brother in law and a few larger items were provided by DIY Wedding Bride (Lori King). My vision would have never been possible without all of their help!
Photography: We both knew we wanted someone as relaxed and laid back as we were and we knew from day one that JP was our guy! He made us laugh and have fun and more importantly helped us enjoy our day to the fullest (rain and all!)
Venue: Rocket Bakery, The Rocket Room. We chose this location because it was so beautiful on its own and required minimal decorating. We wanted a relaxed and intimate ceremony and this space just screams both of these things! The staff at Rocket were beyond amazing and quick to respond to any questions or requests I had right from day one! Such an overall great experience dealing with them.
Flowers: Rock Paper Flowers. I had no idea what I wanted so I sent 3 photos from Pinterest and had 3 requests: lace, lavender and no roses. I didn’t know what I was getting until they arrived at our house the morning of and the result was stunning. They worked within the budget I had set and were an absolute dream to work and plan with!
Hair and Makeup: Hair by Olivia Chafe Salon Studio and Makeup by Ashley O’Neil. Both of these wonderful ladies came to my house the morning of and fixed us all up while we drank all the mimosas and relaxed. It was a wonderful experience to be in my own home getting ready!
Alterations: Rodney Philpott. I’m not even sure where to start with Rodney and Christopher. I didn’t even need to tell them what needed to be altered because they just knew! They pointed out things I would have never even thought of and made my dress even more beautiful than I could have imagined. I’m so glad I made the decision to go with Rodney as I never worried once about my dress!
Robyn's favourite moment: I think I have to say when we saw each other for the first time. I had no idea it would be so emotional but we just gave each other a big hug and didn’t let go or even say a word. I think it sums up our relationship because we often don’t need to say anything at all, we just enjoy the little moments together!
Chris' favourite moment: Having so many of our closest friends and family come from away just to be with us on our special day. It just makes you feel so overwhelmed and loved. We appreciated every single one of them coming to celebrate with us!
Advice to couples currently planning their wedding: Don’t worry about all the little details and trying to make your day perfect. When the day actually arrives it will be perfect no matter what (even if there’s torrential rain)! And just live in the moment because it all just happens and in the blink of an eye, it’s over!
